Introducing Ian Curley, 2017 Devonport Food and Wine Festival Ambassador.
Executive chef of the European Group venues including The European, French Saloon, Kirks Wine Bar and Melbourne Supper Club. Curles, as he is known to friends, is a stalwart in the Melbourne Dining Scene. Described as firm but fair, Ian is always willing to give time and knowledge to young chefs. He loves the idea of feeding the industry and giving back to it. Not having quite enough to do, Ian volunteers himself for a variety of different charity work. From working hands on with clients with drug and alcohol issues through St Vincent De Paul, to having his skills and time auctioned off to raise money for Starlight and The Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation. In February 2011 Ian helmed Network Sevens Conviction Kitchen, a ground-breaking reality program following twelve convicted criminals as they are shown the skills to work within a high-profile restaurant.
Ian has a special affinity with Tasmania, where not only does he shake the hands of the producers and learn about the environment the produce comes from, he can also practice his second love, Golf.
We are excited to welcome Ian to North West Tasmania for Devonport Food and Wine 2017. Ian will be cooking a very special dinner that combines his love of fresh Tasmanian produce and his desire to give back, watch this space for more info!
